Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
