Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
