Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
