Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
