Caribbean Poker Protocols and Tricks

Poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the first poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the casino instead of each other. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no conniving or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer announcing "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other gamblers acquire five cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you must in turn make a call wager or give up. The call wager’s amount is akin to your beginning ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your ante goes directly to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the casino does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including a figure on par with the ante. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pays out chips equal to your initial bet and controlled odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
