Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
