Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha/8 begins just like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to each player. A round of wagering ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are given out, this is known as the flop. One more round of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows and then the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to put together the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some players get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to use precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. No more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical notion in almost every poker game.

A low hand is more complicated, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be made, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.

While it seems complex initially, after a couple of rounds you will be able to get the basic nuances of the game simply enough. Since you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing collection of wagering choices and seeing that you have numerous players battling for the high, as well as many trying for the low. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it’s worth your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
