Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
